First thing’s first: THANK YOU to all the groups and organizations that have been utilizing our space for meetings and celebrations. You know who you are, we know who you are. It’s you who keep us moving in a positive direction. Know of a club or organization or team that needs a meeting space? Let them know we’re here for them!
Holy Shmoly, its September already. We’ve got a handful of events in the next week that you’ll really love.
Monday, September 12 – Theology On Tap – Pastor Steve Jerbi from All People’s Church will be hanging out and fielding any question you may have. This is a casual, open conversation and all are welcome, regardless of religious faith or lack there of. 7pm
Tuesday, September 13 – A showing of the film If a Tree Falls: A story of the Earth Liberation Front. Check out the gnarly trailer below. We’ll have a bucket for donations to legal defenses. ifatreefallsfilm.com
Wednesday, September 14 – 2nd Wednesday Potluck + Pub Trivia. Did you know we’re the only pub trivia in Milwaukee (to be hosted a co-op) ??? Potluck starts at 6, trivia starts at 7. Bring a neighbor, bring a friend, bring a dish, bring your brain! Prizes include free booze. Oh, and it’s free to eat and play.
Friday, September 16 – No Future, Cheekbone, Bicentennial Rub, and Days Off are going to blow you away. Get ready for our best rock show in weeks. $5 to get in. Riffage starts at 9.
Saturday, September 17 – Public House is turning 6 months old and like any overly proud, borderline-infatuated parent, we’re throwing a party for this little baby. This is going to be another solid show. The souly-indie-soulfulness of Kane Street Record Club plus the beer soaked Milwaukee country of Jonathan Burks is going to make this the best party ever. Plus a young new band called Plants you’ll want to check out for some folk straight out of the DIY livingroom/basement scene. And who knows, maybe we’ll even get a cake…$5 at the door, show starts at 9.
Street Team: Will Work For Beer
Now here’s the thing, folks. As members we all want this place to succeed. Many of us want more than that: we want a hopping neighborhood hot spot, doggonnit. But so regardless of whether you want this place to be like the Copacabana or like Moe’s Tavern, we need a Street Team. That means you. We’ve got a list of about 30 spots around town we’ve conveniently organized by neighborhood. So we’re looking for volunteers to hang up posters and flyers for our lovely events, a small sampling of which is listed above. This is a totally necessary and needed aspect of our business. If you help us out, we will trade you the time you spent for free beer. It’s like when you volunteer at the Riverwest Co-op for 3 hours and you get a free meal. Just like that. Shoot an email over to firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re down for this gig.
Call For Nominations
Want to get more involved than the Street Team? Want to be on our Board of Directors? We’ve got an opening on our board and are accepting nominations. Send an email expressing your interest to email@example.com . We’ll get back to you with the relevant info as soon as we can.
