Resistance History: The 2012 NATO Protests
This night school will explore the protests and resistance against the NATO Summit in Chicago in May 2012, their origins and their implications. It will explore the organization of this movement, the police militarization of the city, the connection to wider economic priorities, classes between demonstrators and authorities, tensions within the left evidenced by the week of action, and long-term implications of what happened in Chicago. It will begin with a presentation by Jacob Glicklich, historian and participant in the protests, the format of the event will include space for discussion by other participants in the protests, and anyone else interested in the implications of what happened. The presentation will include images and video from the event.
